Departs Leeds as free agent
Meslier will leave Leeds United as a free agent following the expiration of his contract, bringing to an end a six-year association with the club, the club announced.
Analysis: Meslier joined initially on loan from Lorient in August 2019 before making the move permanent the following summer, going on to make 215 appearances and register 72 clean sheets during his time at Elland Road. The French goalkeeper played a pivotal role in two Championship title-winning campaigns, first in 2019-20 where he conceded just five goals in the final 11 matches to help secure promotion, and again in 2024-25 where he produced 21 clean sheets in 39 matches as Leeds accumulated a record 100 points. He also won the Championship Golden Glove and earned a spot in the PFA's Championship Team of the Season in 2023-24, underlining his consistent quality at that level. Meslier departs as a two-time promotion winner and one of the most important goalkeepers in the club's recent history, with Leeds acknowledging he will always be part of their proud history as he enters the transfer market as a free agent.
